I'm on a staycation, my first decent amount of days off in a row in a year. Because I generally don't know what to do with myself when I'm not working, myself and my boyfriend planned to head for some fancy R+R at Great Jones Spa in SoHo. I haven't had any cupcake tummy tickles lately, I recently had some from Magnolia Bakery and they were fine. But holy shit, the Pumpkin Cheesecake from Georgetown Bakery changed my mind on that.
The base of the cupcake was actual cheesecake. Yes. With the perfect amount of pumpkin frosting on top. Instead of usual favourites I went with a seasonal because hey it's only Autumn once a year. I waited 10 minutes to get the cupcake despite there only being one other person in front of me, customers place their orders at the counter and wait down the back. A system that works great when the shop is busy, not so well when it's a slow day.
Nevertheless, it was worth it. The cupcakes are the perfect size, not crazy ginormous like Crumbs, & Co. I knew the story behind Georgetown Cupcakes because I'd seen their reality TV show on a long-haul flight, it's run by two sisters with now six locations in the States. If you're getting cupcakes for a birthday, occasion, or because it's Wednesday, Georgetown is your place.
